Since childhood I liked islands, the more remote and misterious, the better.
I liked to explore the map books focusing on these tiny dots surrounded by water. Read their poetic names (Kerguelen, Svalbard, Pitcairn, Tonga...) and imagine how would be to live in these far and exotic places.
With the time, Wikipedia and Google Earth appeared, and it became a bit easier to find the islands in the middle of the ocean and read about them.
Recently I discovered the word 'islomania'. It describes the afliction of the spirit characterized by an irresistible attraction to islands. They don't mention a way to cure it (although I don't guess it is needed), but maybe writing a blog something could be done about it.
These little dots in the maps still fascinate me, having so many stories awaiting to be discovered and told.
With this blog that I am 'opening' today, I hope to tell many of these stories.
